نکته: برای گفتن جفتی از چیزی , از A pair of استفاده می کنیم. به مثال زیر توجه کنید:
1_ There is a pair of glasses
2_ There are glasses
در مثال بالا اگه بخواهیم برای توصیف عینک از there is استفاده کنیم , باید آن را بهمراهِ a pair of بیاوریم چون عینک از دو بخش شیشه درست شده . یا اینکه می توانیم از there are استفاده کنیم که در این صورت دیگر نیازی به a pair of نداریم.
* برای اینکه به چیزی اشاره کنیم در انگلیسی 4 تا لغت داریم. این 4 تا لغت بر اساس near (نزدیک) و far (دور) بودن و singular و plural بودن متفاوت اند:

ج: Yes it is / No it isn't
س: Are those your glasses ?
ج: Yes they are / No they aren't
Whose.................. are these / those?
Whose keys are these? / Whose keys are those?
Answer:
_ It is my bag
_ they are my keys / Jim's keys

Conversation:
Andrea: Is this your bag?
Jennifer: No, that's my bag
Andrea: Maybe it's Jim's
Jennifer: Let's look inside. There's a book, a dictionary, a pen, a wallet..
Andrea: A wallet? Look inside.
Jennifer: Right, it's Jim's bag
